Ancient 1986 Honda lawnmower started--finally--after dousing the air cleaner with carburetor cleaner after two pulls. Ummm....wish I'd have known to try this last fall...would have saved tons of aggravation. Apparently there is just gunk in the carburetor and it won't let it fire. So lawn was mowed without borrowing a lawnmower from the in laws. Which, as far as I see it, is pretty awesome. Less aggravation. I love my old lawnmower, really...the wheel adjustments are METAL not plastic and hey, it still running and mows BETTER than the one year old mower I borrow from the in laws.
Jon is having tons of frustrations with his Jeep. It needs an oil change. And the "professional" oil change he got while Jeep was at the mechanics is royally fucked. They tightened his oil pan bolt on with an impact wrench! So he can't get the damn bolt loose and apparently dented the oil pan trying to loosen the bolt. Apparently if the mechanics give you bullshit paperwork--and they did--none of it really matched the vehicle it means they fucked up big time and don't want it traced back to them. Okay, so its nearly 20 years old, but that doesn't give them the right to fuck it up. It has lots of issues...it didn't need a new issue. It doesn't mean we can afford a new-er one at present, either. We are fully prepared to run it until it dies...but it'd be great if some asshole with a mechanic's license didn't hasten its demise.
Today was busy, busy, busy at work. Unloaded 40 gates and 6 stock tanks from Tartar Gate first thing, then unloaded 20 pallets of shavings, 2 of which I dumped, unfortunately because they were packed in there so damn tightly...and had to pick up and restack them--at least we needed shavings on the floor. Too bad I dumped the same flavor both times. Then I went through my usual Monday morning 11 point checklist...and am finding that cashiers STILL aren't doing pickups on special orders which is really annoying and frustrating and makes me spend too much time going through the filing cabinet to find out which ones really are picked up and which ones just aren't at the store yet. Unloaded Carry On Trailer and went to lunch.
After lunch I drafted Amber K. to help me put away gates. There were just sooo many and some of them are too heavy for me to flip upright on my own. She was willing to go outside and die in the hot sun with me. Then I tagged all the damn gates and stock tanks, picked up all the styrofoam from the trailer truck and random other trash people like to leave lying about in the sidelot and came inside sweating like mad and drank a ton of water.
I tossed all the defectives, checked in UPS and dumped my trash--then when the ASM walked in she filled up my trash can with like 100 pounds of rubbish from the team lead, and managers...and just left it sit. I dragged it to the back door and swapped out my trash can with another one. Ridiculous. I swear the managers are the worst about the little annoying things.
This will be the first freight week without Scott A. Should be interesting and stressful.

Country Goat, City Goat
Well, there is currently no furniture on my lawn and my lawn is no longer 12 inches tall in the dog poo zone. I feel all classed up.
(I am actually proud my lawn has taken it upon itself to be so plentiful and thick with NO chemicals or annoying fuckery such as bagging clippings and raking leaves. In fact, our lawn is MUCH healthier than those of our neighbors because the grass clippings remain on the lawn and I mulch the leaves and leave them in piles on the flower beds to make dirt. Not all neat and tidy, but nature isn't neat and tidy.)
Just wait til next trash day when Old Smelly Pokey (our old couch with the spring sticking out) hits the lawn to wait for a very important date with some garbage men, it'll class this joint right up.
Using a borrowed lawnmower, I did feel a bit like I was mowing a hayfield. Cutting it kind of made me sad because the dogs were having happy fun times hiding in the long grass, only wagging tails visible--leaping out at one another then chasing around the yard like idiots. On the other side of things, I didn't want Redford fining me for having a nice grassy field where a lawn should be--a product of their battle against urban blight.
If I was allowed a goat, I wouldn't have trouble with long grass and a lawnmower that doesn't want to start.
Dear Redford Township:
Goats are the environmental way to a nice, healthy, fertilized lawn and make great pets. No more run off from the horrible chemical spray guys. No more picking up lawn clippings and sending them to landfills. Plus, nanny goats give milk and cheese can be made out of it. Goat poo is a lot like rabbit or deer poo and nearly odorless. Just tiny little pellets. Goats run on grass, not gas. Goats don't bite. The dogs and the goat could frolic and it would be amusing.
I also should be allowed to have 2-3 laying hens if I should so chose (not that I in particular WANT them, but I think I should have the right to keep them on my property should I change my mind) because they lay eggs.
I should be able to dig up my entire lawn if I so desire and plant it in corn, tomatoes, green peppers, or what not. (Not that I can, nearly my entire lawn is so densely shaded I had trouble growing things in planters last summer.) I don't actually know if this is against any city ordinance but I suspect that since it doesn't fit the "sameness" and weird Stepford Wive-ish yard style Reford wants (to distinguish itself from Detroit and Brightmoor) that it probably is.

Spring!
I think spring may have finally arrived in Michigan. My tulips are finally blooming! I have also turned off the furnace and had my windows open. Bedding is currently hanging outside on the clothesline instead of only inside. This is very, very nice. Nothing smells as good as sunshine.
I'm waiting on the mattress delivery guys who gave me a window at 7:45 am this morning of 11 am to 2 pm...I would rather it had been earlier so as to get it out of the way, but a new MATTRESS!!!! My mom very nicely gave me a set of sheets that will fit the new mattress because she didn't like that particular sheet set for whatever reason. Sheets are expensive, so its much appreciated. I still need another set in case, for some reason I can't get one set dry before I need to sleep--and believe me this happens in the winter with the indoor clothes line if one or other of the cats, decide that instead of coughing up a hairball on the floor, would rather do it on the bed.
I assembled the new bed frame last night and threw the too small mattress on top of it just so I wouldn't have to be aggravated over assembling things today. I'm glad I got that out of the way. The instructions, while correct, needed better pictures and more steps would have reduced my confusion.
I'm also waiting for Jon to come home from work at around 12:30. He has been doing much much better about staying at work. I drew him a pie chart of expenses. Apparently, he needed the visual more than he needed a numbers analysis and my constant--hey--my stupid checks aren't going to cover our relatively small bills (relatively small as compared to most people). I understand that his job is awfully boring and that he works with his dad who is an asshole most of the time, but really sometimes to enjoy life it really all comes down to can pay bills, eat and do fun things, or can't pay bills, eat or do fun things.
We are planning fun times tomorrow with some friends; and are going to grill pizzas. Tastier than I ever imagined...its a lot of work, but since our oven had been broken for seemingly forever, some things were discovered such as cooking pizza in a cast iron skillet on a charcoal grill tastes fabulous and smoky.

It's nearly May!
So this weekend, Jon and I drove to Gardner White to test out mattresses. (This shopping trip made possible by my sometimes overly generous parents who wouldn't accept my, No, you've helped us plenty...and basically made us take the check they wrote me. A good problem to have, but I'm going to feel so crappy when they need some help and I am still too broke to help.)
We ended up about $150 over budget...but $120 of it was to buy a frame that fits a queen size mattress (my current headboard/footboard fits both full and queen but the frame I have is for a full size so it would be too narrow and short to support a queen size mattress. And the rest was to buy a mattress protector thingy so that the extra warranty we opted for (if mattress fails within 10 years we get a free replacement so long as it has a mattress protector thingy on it so I said, um, yeah go for it...I believe our current mattress is under ten years old and it sucks.) So not too bad, all in all.
Since my Serta didn't seem to last very long, I figured we'd try something different. We got a Beauty Rest...its nice and firm and cushy. I can't wait until it gets here. Have to wait until next Saturday due to stupid delivery men not being able to peg down a time. We told them no one would be home until at least 5 pm during the week and the sales guy was all like, we can't narrow it down. Um...that sucks.
They are going to deliver the mattress and take the old stinky one and the old stinky box spring with them for free. I really hope the delivery guys aren't too squeamish. That mattress has had some adventures. And it shows. The mattress protector died and I never replaced it so, the mattress has met with some things like cat pee from when my cat met Emma and didn't approve and instead held her bladder until an explosion happened. And, it has met with several monthly accidents and various fluids which are yep, disgusting. But it does save me the trouble of figuring out what to do with a nasty old mattress and box springs. What these guys do with them, I don't know.
And the frame is coming from the magic internet world because the stores only sell bolt on frames and my headboard and footboard would have to be different and have hooks. So who knows when that will get here. If not at the same time as the mattress, oh well, new box spring can sit on the floor for a while.
Otherwise today, I ate tasty Indian food from Namaste Flavours...and drank some tasty Ohio wine that Jon had the foresight to buy the day I was puking up my innards when I sent him to the store for some Gatorade.
Stomach is doing much better this weekend. Finally! Not up to stuffing it chock full but spicy things and wine don't bother it.
Have been much less weak and tired as well. But then, I did nap after work on Friday and yesterday I went to bed with a terrible headache, then woke up, still with killer headache and went back to bed. I vaguely remember Jon asking me on and off over the course of several hours if I was ok. I remember telling him no and that I thought I was going to die of exploding brain. The pills just weren't working. I did finally sleep...for around 12 hours. A record for me, really, but I probably needed the rest.
I have also discovered a soap that doesn't irritate my nether parts and smells nice and isn't to girly for Jon, surprisingly. He actually said he liked the new soap, so Yardley of London's Oatmeal and Almond soap it is. I did notice it contains a lot less ingredients that I couldn't pronounce so probably whatever chemical is in the soaps that irritate my tender bits isn't even in there. Wish I could narrow it down without have nasty surprises.
Back to work tomorrow. At least I got a compliment from the Plastic Man who did tell me the manager and assistant manager both tell him I'm doing an awesome job as Receiver. Never heard anything good come out of his mouth in regards to me before. Asshole. Now. GIVE ME MY RAISE!
I got the go ahead to get a guinea pig if I decide I want one from Jon. I kind of still do want one, I wonder if Vincent would want one...
I also got the go ahead to get more aquatic snails. I really wanted to put them in like a fish bowl or something so that I could keep them clean-er than Jon keeps the fish tanks but apparently snails require 2.5 gallons of water apiece!!!!! Or so sayeth this cool website: http://www.applesnail.net/. We had golden and black mystery snails at one point. I thought they were cool, but apparently we did many many things wrong and so they died. Water too dirty, no calcium in the water, didn't leave enough air at the top of the tank (they breathe air!)...and so forth. So I don't know if we'll get more or not. Jon would have to keep the Fishy tank cleaner. Maybe, one day, the remaining goldfish will die and I can use his tank for snails/plants. We shall see. I really don't want to start another large tank going. Large meaning over 5 gallons, at least to me. Not that I really want the goldfish to die. We've had him for 6 years, now, I think and Jon was really sad when his friend died over the winter. I guess 6 years is pretty old for feeder goldfish, which is what they both were.

From Plans to Puke
I should have known it would be a disastrous trip.
First of all, one of my freight trucks didn't show up Thursday...not while I was at work.
Second of all, when I went to put Jon's clothes in the suitcase I had packed already with my every day clothes, I found that my jeans were wet...and upon investigation had discovered that one of my cats who have been litter trained for YEARS had peed in it. Um...great. So everything in there got tossed in the washing machine and then I had one pair of jeans to wear for the weekend. I thought it was luck that saved the dress clothes for the wedding we were going to from being in the suitcase and that I had stowed them in a different bag to save them from pet hair and so they were saved from the cat pee as well.
Since we were staying with my parents I figured my one pair of jeans would be okay and I could use their washing machine if I needed to. So we left anyway and the trip was pretty smooth.
Friday was pretty good. The dogs got to go on an off-leash run, Jon and I drove to Coshocton and had a meal at our favorite Mexican place and we had a visit with my parents.
Then, at 5 am, I woke up not feeling so great.
That led a 12 hour puke-a-thon. I hate puking. It's awful. The worst part was when everyone began to want to eat food and I was still puking. And the food they were eating was a rice/beef/cheese/pepper/nacho meal my mom and made for supper the night before and I, of course had puked up already. I don't think I'll be eating anything remotely like it for a long, long time. I couldn't stand to smell it and I still can hardly stand to think about it.
So I missed my cousin's wedding.
And, yesterday, Jon had to drive the whole trip home which isn't awful, but its nice to be able to switch off. I was just in no shape. I also had a high fever, headache, and really no attention span, possible due to the fever or the pill my dad gave me to combat the headache because its a pill gentler on the stomach than aspirin but not necessarily good for driving. One of his generic Imtrex's or something. I don't really know. Didn't care. I was in such agony.
Came home, fell asleep at 9 pm, woke up, called off work (I am actually sweating just sitting here typing), went back to sleep until 9 am...and am hoping I will be up to working tomorrow.
And that was the weekend I've been looking forward to for months.

And More Adventures in Womanhood
Well, here goes day one at trying a menstrual cup.
Had no problems inserting it, but it feels a bit weird in. Probably just that I haven't managed to insert it quite correctly or perhaps that it is wider around than my vagina, which it definitely is. I'm little, apparently. So I kind of figure that its just a different kind of weird than wearing a tampon, which is also a kind of weird. I've just gotten used to ignoring that kind of weird over the years.
And, actually, I've been wearing it only an hour or so.
It was time to try something different since I have found I have some sort of horrible allergy to tampons these days and I really don't like pads. I have lots of trouble with leakage while wearing pads. Lots. And even had lots of trouble with leakage with tampons as well. Neither really handles giant surges of fluid which happens to me quite regularly, unfortunately. So I looked into the menstrual cup and found it interesting that there wasn't this huge annoyance of going to the store and buying increasingly expensive tampons and that its not something I can become allergic to.
This is a horrible allergy. Like itching, burning and constant discomfort. To pee, I had to seriously go out and buy Desitin so that my urine couldn't come into contact with the rampant allergic reaction that when urine did manage to contact, made me cry it stung so badly.
If all goes well then I have found a solution. Time will tell.

This week in the Life of Me
I wish last weekend had been interesting in a good way.
However, I spent it bleaching/washing most of the items in my house because Jon had some sort of digestive upset that caused projectile vomiting and simultaneous Diarrhea. Yep. Pretty awful.
I resorted to peeing down the floor drain once again because I didn't want to touch any of the surfaces he'd contaminated by touching. Yep. I refused to touch most of the objects in my house until I could bleach/wash them.
So far, so good. I haven't caught the insidious bug. It's been nearly an entire week so hopefully I'm past all danger.
In other news, I found a men's platinum and gold wedding band abandoned in a parking lot of a steakhouse where. No inscriptions or identifying marks. Plain. Jon sold it at the pawn shop for $200. Think I should start going to steakhouses on Sunday mornings hoping cheating spouses are taking off wedding bands and losing them in the parking lot. $200 is more than I've ever made in a day.
James the Destroyer turns one year old soon. Not sure how that's really possible, but it seems to be. I still find it vaguely depressing that I don't see Ruth at work...and I haven't worked with her in nearly 3 years so it shouldn't be possible that she's the mother of a very active one year old walking baby.
Made a professional photographer angry with my offensive use of the word "ass" while criticizing a photograph of my niece that's not terribly good. Apparently, she's never referred to a donkey as an ass...even though the Bible does, on several occasions. I thought this was hilarious. Bible beaters have always made me laugh with their hypocritical views. Nothing new here.
My ultra conservative Grandmother who believed the word "fart" offensive even used the word "ass" as in "Oh, look at that cute little ass." And yes, she meant donkey. But she was never a hypocrite.
Apparently, people take comments on Facebook photo posts wayyyy too seriously. And hey, I wouldn't have posted it if I'd realized it wasn't on my sister in law's page. But since computer was broken and in for repair and I was using a PS3 to surf and the PS3 doesn't allow certain niceties it confused me and so I ended up posting on the photographer's page. Oh, well, I still find it funny.
Work wise, I hate not having enough people scheduled. I am on the floor too much. I am answering too many loony phone calls. I am boxing up too many chickens and people feel like since the back room doors have windows that those windows are for them to interrupt me while I'm sorting totes to ask me the prices of things. I don't fucking know the price. I told someone I didn't know the current price of Sweet Mix and his jaw just dropped. Sorry I am not a computer and I don't have the capacity of memory to care about and memorize prices on every object in the store. Learn to READ, not panic and find someone to bother.

Sorry I am not a computer and I don't have the capacity of memory to care about and memorize prices on every object in the store. Learn to READ, not panic and find someone to bother.
